TECHNOLOGY: Curse or Blessing?

Title: Technology is a curse or a blessing

Old and new technologies such as large machinery, robotics, artificial intelligence, and 5G have led to economic growth, but has the world developed, and if so, is it sustainable?

Technology contributes to world GDP growth, but does it contribute to development?

The words growth and development may seem similar, but their meanings differ.

A beautiful example will explain the difference between growth and development. "When we get an education and start working in a good position in a reputed company or go into a good field and earn a good salary, it is called growth due to education. But when those educated children begin to see changes in their behavior and thinking, it is called the development".

“Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” —B.B. King

Technology is such an important thing in today's world that it is needed in everything because technology has made work easier and the time required for that work has also decreased but just as everything brings its advantages, it also brings disadvantages to its companion.

For example, the advancement of technology has led to growth in manufacturing industries and work started in full swing and started perfectly. But its side effect was that laborers were replaced by modern machinery and unemployment increased. That is what we call technological unemployment. (It is a key type of structural unemployment)

Now technology has started to enter every field, there will not be a single area where technology has not made a step and now it is impossible for man to live without technology Because technology is now a necessity of humans and without it, he is incomplete because technology has now taken place even in the small things of his life.

“It’s not that we use technology, we live in technology”-Godfrey Reggio

To survive in daily life, we have to live by accepting technology. But while accepting this, it is equally important to understand what is bad and what is good.

For example, the internet. Today, the Internet is used all over the world. As the name suggests, the Internet has spread its network all over the world. The Internet has many advantages as well as disadvantages. The Internet brought with it modern technology like Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Social Media, and Applications, but it also brought hacking and Cybercrimes with it.

Social Media

Technology enters the lives of children very early these days. We see around us or in our homes that children start looking at phones very early. Or somewhere else do we introduce it to them early? But is it really necessary?

And this is what they get to know about social media. Social media are a world of their own and people whose responsibility is to tell children what is bad and what is good before entering that world. Today, many things have become easy because of social media. But today, many things have become difficult because of social media.

“Social media is not just a platform, it’s a reflection of society.” – Mark Zuckerberg

Green Technology                                                                                                                      Technology is gradually adding to the growth of the world. Similarly, it is slowly adding to the crises ahead.

For example, innovative machines are being added to the electronics sector. Similarly, old machines are being phased out, so there is a crisis ahead to dispose of this machinery, and E-waste is born. If we look today at the countries that are top in terms of GDP, the countries are also top in terms of e-waste.

Today we are achieving success in every work due to technology, even humans set foot on the moon using technology So now nothing seems impossible but while doing all this, do we consider nature? Nature is older than technology. Nature has never and will never give trouble to technology. But can technology provide the same assurance to nature?

After reading the full discussion above, the question that comes to mind;

Is technology a curse or a blessing?

So it is entirely up to us how we handle technology. A curse if we don't use it properly and a blessing if used properly. When we know that something has both advantages and disadvantages, we also know that things have limitations. And nothing ever has side effects when used in a limited way.

Now we can't live without technology. But while living with it, we must consider our basic needs. Our basic needs are food, clothing, and shelter. And we get them from nature. So we have to respect it.

We should use technology properly. We also need to consider how, where, and when technology should be used. We have to teach this to our future generations. And once you know this art, you will get the answer to whether technology is a curse or a blessing, as a blessing.

"Technology is best when it brings people together."  -Matt Mullenweg
